Resin Floor Coating for Organisational and Safety Zoning in Furniture QC Area

When a leading furniture manufacturer in Accrington needed a clearly defined, easy-to-clean QC area, they reached out to ACL Resin Flooring for a fast, reliable solution.

The brief was clear: a hard-wearing, non-textured epoxy floor that could be cleaned easily and withstand the demands of a production facility, all within a tight three-day window over a weekend. In addition, the customer needed strong visual demarcation between working zones to support both safety protocols and production efficiency.

Our Approach

We proposed a tailored solution using ACL-Coat HB, our two-pack, high-build epoxy resin, customised in client-specific RAL colours. To complete the job with clear, sharp transitions between areas, we used ACL-Coat LM, our thixotropic line marking resin.

Here’s how the work unfolded:

  • Friday:
Surface preparation using dust-controlled diamond grinding to remove the existing coatings and contamination. The first coat of all the coloured zones was applied that afternoon.

  • Saturday:
Repairs were carried out using a fast-curing two-component repair product, followed by application of the second coat across all areas.

  • Sunday:
Final detailing including application of the outer yellow perimeter and black lines between colour zones for crisp definition and safety clarity.

The resulting floor features durable, high-visibility colour zoning to support quality control, staff movement, and operational efficiency.

Why This Matters

Sometimes it’s not just about having a floor that looks good — it’s about what that floor says. In a fast-moving environment, clear floor markings can reduce errors, keep people safe, and help processes run more smoothly.

By completing the work over a single weekend, the customer experienced zero disruption to production and came back to a transformed QC area ready for the week ahead.
